The registered legal foundation behind
the platform
The Legacy Project is the bursary and youth development programme of the South African Hall of Fame Trust, a registered Public Benefit Organisation under South African law and the legal entity that holds tax, B-BBEE and regulatory standing on behalf of the platform.
The Trust conducts Public Benefit Activities recognised under Schedule 9 of the Income Tax Act, with a primary focus on the welfare and development of children and youth, and the provision of education and training. This combines a credible institutional anchor with a focused human-centred mission.
All grants, donations and partnership contributions are received by the South African Hall of Fame Trust and applied through The Legacy Project as its delivery vehicle.

What is The Legacy Project?
The Legacy Project is the bursary and youth development platform of the South African Hall of Fame Trust. It helps talented children with limited resources access life-changing educational opportunities, structured support and long-term development.
Are donations to The Legacy Project tax-deductible in South Africa?
Yes. As a registered Public Benefit Organisation, The Legacy Project issues a Section 18A tax certificate for every qualifying donation, making contributions tax-deductible at the limits set by SARS.
How can corporate partners fund The Legacy Project?
Corporate partners can fund through three structured mechanisms: a Section 18A philanthropic contribution, a B-BBEE Socio-Economic Development (SED) contribution, or a Skills Development Levy (SDL) aligned initiative. Each is treated separately and is fully compliant. Contributions can also be blended across categories for maximum strategic value.
How do international donors give to The Legacy Project?
Supporters in the United States, Canada or the United Kingdom can donate through our international partner ForAfrika for a tax-recognised contribution in their own jurisdiction. Donors must select “Hall of Fame” from the designation dropdown so the contribution is allocated to The Legacy Project.
How many young people does The Legacy Project currently support?
The Legacy Project currently supports 128 young people. The platform’s long-term ambition is to develop 1,000 future leaders by 2030.
Which schools partner with The Legacy Project?
Current partner schools include Pretoria Boys High School, Maritzburg College, Hoërskool Monument, Afrikaanse Hoër Meisieskool Pretoria and Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool. The school network continues to grow as the platform expands.
